Mailing List: Typically a list of email addresses managed through an auto responder for marketing to customers the same way as mail marketing but electronically. This is in reference to internet marketing.

Media: This is content that is created as images, comments, video or text to be spread online.

Merchant: A term used to describe a person, company or corporation selling goods or services. It is quite common for merchants to set up affiliate programs because this increases their sales in a cost effective way. Some contract with networks to make the management and administration of their programs easier, however others invest in tracking software and develop an in-house program; these type of merchant’s are often referred to as ‘independents’.

Meta Tags: HTML tags that give information for search engines about the web page.

Metrics: These are statistics that portray the pattern of visitors that your site gets.

Mouse Traps: In terms of internet marketing, these are the forms situated throughout a website that offer something to the visitor who must provide their email address before they can receive it. Mouse Traps are used to build up a database of email addresses.

Multivariate Testing: Describes a system where 2 or more variables are tested in a real environment.
