Social Media sites such as YouTube have exploded in recent years with ever more ways for us to communicate, interact, comment, share and fill our busy lives. Now home to videos from the interesting to awful, the useful to useless and creative to just plain dumb, YouTube is one of the inventions that could probably rank with the electric light bulb or television set in years to come.
Well YouTube has allowed anyone to upload or access videos on any subject known to mankind. As a source of niche ideas and a tool to use in the niche research process YouTube offers you a broad range of opportunities and ideas.
Here’s how we use YouTube to find new niche ideas.
Go to You Tube.
One of the simplest ways to find niche ideas on YouTube is to simply click the ‘Browse channels’ button as shown in the image below to look around the channel categories that YouTube offers.
Once you’ve clicked on the ‘Browse channels’ button you’ll be shown a list of channel categories to pick from as you can see in the image below:
These categories cover a huge range of potential niche markets and all you have to do is browse around and see what ideas appear.
Another approach to identifying niche ideas on YouTube is to use ‘how to’ words and phrases in the search box to see what videos are suggested.
After literally hundreds of hours researching niches on YouTube I’ve found the following phrases to be the most productive.
- how to
- tutorial on
- learn to
- how to
- ways to
- finding time to
- steps to
- step by step
YouTube also has Google’s instant niche ideas tool in their search box.
As Google owns You Tube this Instant niche idea tool is also available in the search box over at the main Google search engine. Just enter the same phrases and words shared above into the Google search box and you’ll get a whole stack of other niche ideas.
Given the popularity of YouTube and the sheer volume of videos uploaded I find I visit You Tube for niche research ideas at least once a week.
